LET'S EXPLORE KOTA TUA

History of Kota Tua

Before you visit one of the historical tourism icons in Jakarta, it's good to know the history of the old city. At that time this area was still known as Sunda Kelapa Harbor until then Raden Fatahillah attacked and changed the name of this area to Jayakarta. The arrival of the Dutch also played a role in the history of the old town. At that time, the VOC which was a Dutch trade union led by Jan Pieterszoon Coen attacked Jayakarta. After successfully destroying this area, the VOC changed the name Jayakarta to Batavia and expanded the area to the west bank of the Ciliwung River. The construction of the city was completed in 1650 and Batavia was named the headquarters of the VOC. It did not stop there, Japanese troops arrived and succeeded in occupying Batavia in 1942. Then the name of the area was again changed to Jakarta as we know it today. As an effort to preserve and protect this historic area, Governor Ali Sadikin, who served as the Governor of Jakarta at that time, inaugurated Kota Tua Jakarta in 1972 as a historical heritage site.

If you go to Jakarta, you must come here!

Fatahillah Museum

The Fatahillah Museum has become an icon of Jakarta's Old City tourism. The architecture of this building is similar to the Dam Palace in Amsterdam. When you browse inside, you'll find a courtroom and a dungeon. In addition, in this museum there are also 23,200 collections of historical items both original and replica. Starting from replicas of the relics of the Pajajaran and Tarumanegara kingdoms and various antique furniture such as ceramics, pottery, inscriptions and others. In addition, in the Fatahillah Museum field area, you can also find bicycle rentals. By renting this bicycle you can get around and enjoy the surrounding area. You can visit the Fatahilah Museum every Tuesday - Sunday from 09.00 to 15.00.

Puppet Museum ( Museum Wayang)

This puppet museum was formerly called Hollandsche. Inside the museum there are various kinds of Indonesian wayang collections that you can learn about. Apart from local puppets, here you can also find puppets from various countries such as Thai, Cambodia, Suriname and China puppets. Wayang performance art performances are also routinely held every month, usually the show will be held every 2nd or 3rd week. So, make sure you check the schedule properly when you want to enjoy the puppet art while stopping by here. The puppet museum operates from 08.00 to 17.00 and is closed on Monday. Kota Tua is the main attraction for tourists, including local residents who want to unwind. Apart from classic Dutch heritage buildings, entertainment, hip cafes to human sculptures, there are several museums there that can be targeted by visitors. One of them is the Wayang Museum. The Wayang Museum building design from the front is still very thick with Dutch Indies architecture. The old building with white paint, decorated with windows and green door frames was previously a church land area. The building was built in 1640 under the name de Oude Holandsche Kerk. The puppet collections displayed there come from all parts of Indonesia. There are even those imported from abroad, such as China, Cambodia, Thailand, Suriname, Vietnam, India and Colombia. The Puppet Museum collection has around 6,300 pieces. Starting from shadow puppets, wayang golek, cardboard puppets, grass puppets, wayang janur, masks, puppets, beber puppets and gamelan.

Ceramics and Artworks Museum

The building which is now the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics was originally the Office of the Judiciary Council of the Dutch East Indies government at Batavia Fortress or Ordinaris Raad van Justitie Binnen Het Kasteel Batavia. During the Japanese occupation around 1944, the building was converted into a military hostel. Then, on January 10, 1972, the building with eight large pillars at the front was restored as a historical building as well as a protected cultural heritage. In 1990, the historical asset was finally handed over to the DKI Jakarta Culture and Museum Office. It is now a Fine Arts and Ceramics Museum, presenting a collection of works by Indonesian artists since the 1800s until now. Ceramic collections are not only from contemporary Indonesian creative arts, but also from China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and Europe. Ceramics from abroad are relics of the 16th to early 20th centuries.

How much is admission to the museum?

The three museums above offer an entrance fee of IDR 5,000 for adults, IDR 3,000 for students, and IDR 2,000 for children. The museum is open every Tuesday to Sunday and is closed every Monday.

Violence in Video Games, Movies, and Telvision Programs Should be Censored?

In this era people prefer to spend time playing games and watching movies and tv series but lately a lot of negative things that appear in the gadget screen and television programs that can affect anyone who sees especially children. Now children can easily access any video games of course this will have a bad impact if the video games have a bad influence such as negative contents, adult contents that they shouldn't see. Parents cannot often monitor children's activities while playing gadgets or watching.
First in playing games, as we know if kids play violent games they will be very violent as they grow up. Video games make kids violent and like talk nasty and think nasty kids who play games that have violence in them, the kids who play them turn out to be violent also think and talk nasty.  Just like some kids end up killing a family member because of such violence that their minds saw. Video games should be censored because kids will see what happens and they will do the same thing! Also parents will not know if they should approve or if they shouldn't approve. Parents will not be able to judge the game by its cover because it could be violent without them knowing it! Plus parents will not know if they should approve or disapprove if the video games aren't censored. The way video games are censored should stay the same. It alwaays has been a good idea.
About watching movies, Movies have a great impact on people. There are filmmakers who ignore their responsibility towards society and add commercial elements or impose their opinions through movies. Its have negative impacts if movies not censored. Censoring certain parts of movies helps keep children away from hearing and seeing inappropriate things. Nowadays, children are addicted to watching and children are exposed to it. Inappropriate scenes or a string of cuss words can teach them all the wrong things and have a bad influence. Nowadays, most films have unrealistic scenes. Violent scenes that motivate young viewers to copy the tasks their heroes perform on screen may cost them their lives. Films which claim that consumption of drugs is injurious to health are actually promoting the use of drugs as young minds grow curious to try them in real life. It is better such scenes are censored.
About television programs, today, TV is a source of entertainment to people of all age groups. It has become an integral part of homes and it’s hard to imagine life without it. People, especially children, enjoy watching television. Unluckily, many of today’s television programs are violent. Since children spend an enormous amount of time watching television, this creates negative effects of television violence to them. Televised violence has dramatic effects on the growth of children and can be lead to a tremendous influence in misleading their physical behavior. As a result, the broadcast of television violence should be under controlled. Many authorities make huge deals and give long speeches about how violence on TV is so terrible. Why television violence should be censored? First of all, television violence can easily mislead children because young children do not has the same perceptions as adult. They can not judge whether the episode is a fantasy to them or realistic in the world. Children begin to react to television very early. Second, independent studies have suggested that the images young people see on television influence their personal behavior in adverse ways.
Children who watch a lot of television are more adapted to the violent scenes than those who seldom watch; in other words, they are less distress by violence in general or less likely to feel anything wrong with it. Television violence is an extremely serious issue ought to have solutions to encounter this controversial social issue. Broadcasters, school staffs and parents share responsibilities and play an important role of the whole life of the younger generation. Although there are many other factors that also effect the children’s behavior, TV plays an important part in their life and should be under control for the sake of the children.

Now it is arguable that television should be censored for children because they are more likely to mimic things they see some of which may be deemed unacceptable behavior.

The Differences Between High School and College

The world of high school and college are two very different phases of life. Though the two of them couldn't be further apart there are some parallels that can be drawn between the two. From childhood to teenage, the high school tries to prep you for our life as an adult. Whereas college on the other hand, grooms and teaches that adult how to make the transition from a teenager to a professional of the corporate life. In college, one must become a responsible decision maker and learn to be independent. Earning good grades in college can be a bit difficult in comparison to high school as well, and you have to maintain a balance between studying and having fun. Believe it or not, our life as a high school student is a lot more disciplined that it ever will be as a college student. In school, we are bound by protocols and disciplinary rules that we are tempted to defy but there is always a fear of being caught and punished. College life on the other hand, though is bound by rules, but it hardly matters for the sense of freedom that students gain in college is all about doing what they feel like. Yet both of them hold their own charms and leave us with great memories.

Attendance
This is one of the major difference between two student lives that we live. In school, attendance was compulsory if we missed out a day we had to take in a leave/sick application duly signed by one of our parents to school the next day. Whereas, on the other hand, attendance in college is taken more casually by students. And to avoid a complete no-show the entire semester a lot of college administrations have introduced a minimum attendance percentage for students to be able to sit in examinations.

Dress Code

In most school across the country, there is a uniform or a defined set of clothing prescribed by the school administration for all its students. We are bound by the school rules to abide by the dress code and wear a neat and clean uniform to school every day. However, in college students are not bound by any such dress codes we are free to wear whatever and whenever we want.
Independence
In college, we are independent, responsible, and free from the outer world. We learn to make decisions for ourself, whereas in high school, a student’s activities are guided and monitored by their school and their parents. In college, we have to manage the time for everything on our own.
Choosing Classes
The first and foremost difference lies in academics. In high school, we can not choose most of our subjects, whereas in college we are free to choose classes according to our own will. The criteria for classes vary in college as compared to high school. Even though attendance is not always taken in college classes, going to class is a must, and we have to study effectively on our own to achieve good marks.
Figure Out Our Values
Values play an important role in a student’s life. While in high school, students follow their parents’ values, and usually make decisions based on the family’s morals, culture, and tradition. As we step into the next chapter of our life, we will come across friends with different morals, values, cultures, and traditions. College will provide us with an exposure to diversity and new ideas.

TIPS LIBURAN KE BALI VERSI LOW BUDGET (SHARING PENGALAMAN)

Hollaaa !!!!

Welcome to my first blog!

Jadi kita berdua beneran dapet tiket pesawat Jakarta – Bali PP (pulang pergi) murah meriah.

Jangan lupa ya kalo mau cari tiket pesawat murah PP Jakarta- Bali atau destinasi lainnya contact gue biar gue bantu cari tiket termurah.

Kalau sama supir taksi biasa kadang suka dikibulin.

Untung temen gue ngingetin terus biar hemat :D

Pesona Pantai Nyang -  Nyang

Rasanya gak mau ngedip saking bagusnya. Ah Lebay haha.

Berasa pantai milik pribadi.

Pantai Tegal Wangi gak kalah cantik

Wah akhirnya...

Last dayyy..
Gak berasa udah hari terkahir di Bali. Hari terakhir harusnya happy - happy eh malah sibuk ngurusin motor ancur.

Masih pengen lama - lama
But next time gue pengen nge - explore lebih lagi.

So, gak perlu biaya banyak buat ngetrip ke Bali kecuali niat nya pengen hura – hura hehe. Oh ya Bali itu pulau ramah wisatawan, gue baru nyadar kalo selama di Bali gue gak nemu preman, pengamen, pengemis, tukang parkir liar. Bener – bener nyaman banget.

By the way dokumentasi gue selama di Bali banyak yang udah gue hapus. Baru kepikiran bikin blog setelah foto kehapus.

Terimakasih! :)
